’Tyrant to a tyrant’ is a ten-piece polyptych frieze created in intricate collage, and has been conceived as a condensed representation of the human relationships, as well as the spirit of its times. The title of the series borrows its name from a line in a poem by Petar II Petrović Njegoš (1813 - 1851), a nineteenth–century Montenegrin prince-bishop and a poet. His notable and deeply reflective epic, “The Mountain Wreath”, contains a passage that inspired this series:

“This world is a tyrant to a tyrant, /
Let alone to a truly noble soul!” (2499-2500)

“The artist creates a series of symbolic systems that function as an image of a micro-community, the community in which everything is interconnected, all its members are in touch and in never-ending informational loop. This series presents a reflection on the post-industrial society, the paradigm of a system whose subjects are disoriented tourists-consumers in their own lives. Daniela Fulgosi here projects an image of new natural, an overpopulated universe that records potentially endless number of individuals, within a space in which everything is miniaturised and in which body becomes unnecessary.”
- From the catalogue essay ‘Lines of time” by Žaklina Ratković (Jacqueline Ratkovich), Galerija Savremene Likovne Umetnosti Niš, 27. April - 16. May 2017.
